In the afternoon of 19th May, Academician Long yiming from Chen provincial institute of mathematics of nankai university visited the school of mathematics and statistics and delivered an academic lecture entitled "stimulating interest, innovation and pioneering" at the south building 104 of science and technology building, exchanging cordial communication with everyone and discussing warmly. The lecture attracted many teachers and students to listen to the scene, the scene was full of seats.

The lecture began with some interesting math stories. Based on his research direction, academician long first popularizes the problem of aircraft route on the map, introduces the concept of geodesic, expounds the mathematical significance of geodesic in differential geometry, dynamic system and nonlinear analysis, and introduces its important applications in science and technology, economy and military fields.
